Engaging & Embedding Critical Talent: Strategies for increasing employee productivity and rentention
The second paper follows naturally from the first paper in the series which was released in February 2008 – Attract, Develop and Retain: Initiatives to Sustain a Competitive Workforce.
This paper highlighted the range of efforts being employed by different industries around the world to retain their workforce. It showed the need that companies have had in recent times to think broadly rather than rely upon traditional human resources practices.
This second paper, Engaging and Embedding Critical Talent: Strategies for increasing employee productivity and retention, moves on to analyse what organisations can do to ensure their employees are both rationally and emotionally committed to their work while demonstrating why achieving this can lead to improved retention. It is important to highlight the continued relevance of this type of analysis despite the current global economic situation. It is clear that conditions will improve and when they do, ongoing skills shortages and the effects of an ageing workforce will require companies to be focused on retaining their key talent.
